The Walking Man is based on a quote by Albert Einstein. It is about the courage to express your imagination, regardless of how ridiculous it may seem at times, and to continue trying to manifest the things of dreams for the betterment of humanity. Starring Jonas Dickson and crewed by the three most talented people in Los Angeles, we are proud to present our June fable from the DollHouse.
We had a good production meeting today... Sue met up with Bill Dance, the casting director, yesterday. We have a plan. Here's the idea...
ReplyDeleteThe Father and His Two Daughters
A MAN had two daughters, the one married to a gardener, and the
other to a tile-maker. After a time he went to the daughter who
had married the gardener, and inquired how she was and how all
things went with her. She said, "All things are prospering with
me, and I have only one wish, that there may be a heavy fall of
rain, in order that the plants may be well watered." Not long
after, he went to the daughter who had married the tilemaker, and
likewise inquired of her how she fared; she replied, "I want for
nothing, and have only one wish, that the dry weather may
continue, and the sun shine hot and bright, so that the bricks
might be dried." He said to her, "If your sister wishes for rain,
and you for dry weather, with which of the two am I to join my
wishes?'
Or this...
ReplyDeleteSue called last night and suggested this one. It would be easier to set up and there is a friend here who has her grandson over often to visit. He might make a good actor!
The Boy and the Filberts
A BOY put his hand into a pitcher full of filberts. He grasped
as many as he could possibly hold, but when he tried to pull out
his hand, he was prevented from doing so by the neck of the
pitcher. Unwilling to lose his filberts, and yet unable to
withdraw his hand, he burst into tears and bitterly lamented his
disappointment. A bystander said to him, "Be satisfied with half
the quantity, and you will readily draw out your hand."
Do not attempt too much at once.
The writer's meeting at Disney this evening had four attendees. Linda Simeone had written a wonderful fantasy, inspired by being on a studio lot. She also brought her writing buddy Brian. Some time ago, I read the feature they wrote together, "Some Travel Required". It's really fun and what she is writing now is the same.
ReplyDeleteI"m still rehearsing reading my first few pages. I think Connie, another member of the group, felt the same way... things need to go smoothly for these guys. They're good.
We've been reading in the trades that Disney is going to lay off 200+ people in home entertainment/distribution. That's close. Glad I have a job now.
Yesterday evening we were invited to a animatic of the new Disney feature Wreck-it-Ralph. I thought it was going to be like Joe Jump, but turns out its a whole different story. Not about an older version of an arcade avatar getting along in a new video world. I did like that idea, but maybe it's yet to be made.
ReplyDeleteWe're going over to a place on Lankershim tonight called the Tiki to have drinks and see is Elija Wood is playing DJ there. Thats the attraction
We wrote a script at the meeting last Sunday the 12th. Virginia Arnold was there to help. It's a little over one page. I found a pickle jar that will serve well, and Sue has found where to buy filberts here in Santa Clarita. Jonas Dickson will play the man and we have two new options to take the part of the boy.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking over where we can get the best shots out around the Dog Park.
200 lay offs happening at Disney in the area where I work. Looks like there's no chance of getting hired now!
ReplyDeleteWe're still working on casting a young person for the June fable... production meeting coming up on Saturday afternoon. I'd like to get a solid shot list for Sunday, as well as phone numbers of the people working on this thing.
Third kid down. It probably wasn't a good idea to plan to shoot this on Father's Day with kids. I'll remember that next time. Sooo. Here's the alternative idea for the Sunday shoot... it will be shot mostly from the trunk of my car.

I have an imagination!
I have ideas.
GREAT ideas.
Ideas to change the world!
for instance...
(CLOSE SHOT)
Why not water cucumbers with vinegar to make pickles on the vine? hmmm?
I made this potato bug smasher
(takes two wooden blocks out of his pocket)
See... you place the bug on this one... block on top... step on it and "VOILA"
Ha!
Actually sold several of these on eBay until I started getting hate letters.
GARDEN
I imagine other things the rays of the Sun might be used for.
GARDEN NIGHT
(the moon should be 1/2 out, up there Sunday night)
I look at the moon and mars. Imagine traveling to a new frontier!
HORIZON SHOT

Sue had been complaining of having the stomach flu for several days. Finally, today, the pain plus a high temperature led her to the emergency care clinic on Solodad. They told her to admit herself to the Henry Mayo because she had symptoms of diverticulitis. Mayo did a scan and found that her intestine was perforated. At that time they thought she might have to have surgery. Good grief! She called and I went over while they moved her into a room for the night. So, no job, no insurance and this happens. She was in high spirits, but pretty shaky from the Morphine. I talked to the doctor, a Dr. Brar, who said he thinks they can treat it with antibiotics, but it will take several days with no food! I really don't think Sue needs a crash diet. She wavers in a strong wind as it is. Think good, healing thoughts. We need her here, working and happy
ReplyDeleteWhat a amazing shoot. Jonas Dickson, Linda Simeone, Rachel Arno and Marque Smith made this whole thing happen. What could be more fun than spending the day with three incredibly talented people making a visual story. I an so excited about editing this I'm starting early. I set every thing up for the capture tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteWe called Sue, who is in the hospital and will be for several days. I need to go on line and find out what kind of financial help there is for someone who is out of work and has no health insurance. There must be some organization some where who can help with this.
We have decided on a July fable. Great meeting yesterday with another new member Lucia Flynn. She is a script writer who wants to see her work performed and exhibited. Welcome! We will be making a shot list, setting up shots, casting and costuming next Sunday at 3:00. Here is the unscripted fable.
ReplyDeleteOnce upon a time there was a Miser who used to hide his gold at the foot of a tree in his garden; but every week he used to go and dig it up and gloat over his gains. A robber, who had noticed this, went and dug up the gold and decamped with it. When the Miser next came to gloat over his treasures, he found nothing but the empty hole. He tore his hair, and raised such an outcry that all the neighbours came around him, and he told them how he used to come and visit his gold.
"Did you ever take any of it out?" asked one of them. "Nay," said he, "I only came to look at it." "Then come again and look at the hole," said a neighbour; "it will do you just as much good."
Wealth unused might as well not exist
Sue Upperco, Actor, Writer, Producer and Director is being released from the hospital today! After a week and a half of constant antibiotics, starvation diet and no sleep due to noisy hospital neighbors, she is finally out of there! Glad you are home Sue, and hope you are tip-top very soon.
ReplyDeleteThe edit on the June Fable is finished. I left the house today while it was uploading to YouTube, but the upload failed. I may not have flattened the .mov file. Soooo.... that's my project tonight along with a truck-load of laundry. I'm laying low this weekend, writing my idea of the July fable and working on cleaning the AGDVX. I've never done that in seven years. I'm sure it's time.
This is such a neat little way to tell fables. I really liked that the actor was able to change from a snake-oil salesman to a rather thoughtful guy with some insightful thoughts.
ReplyDeleteWho knows, maybe I can even be a snake oil salesman in one of your cute little fables. If not, I may have some great property for you at the edge of the swamp.
