HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Here is the 1-Sheet for our latest Part 1 of Portal to the Clockworld.  It needs a bit of tweaking here and there but I am very happy with the basic layout and Carol looks gorgeous.

November 9, 2016

It's the last two weeks of editing Portal to the Clockworld.  The screening will be replaced with Christmas presents to the cast and crew.  After that I'll work on having a premiere in Coeur d' Alene.  Hopefully involving Sandpoint too.  They had some great films at the festival and it was wonderful to see Erik and Janice again.

I finally found the fast way to label and sync sound and picture in Final Cut.  I have about two more scenes left and I think I can get some editing speed going.  It would be wonderful if somebody here in Wallace wanted to learn this and could afford an iMac and software.  The problem with teaching editing is just that.  There is a huge initial setup cost then to pay for lessons isn't feasible.  I taught myself from online tutorials and Youtube videos. The finer aspects come from Jean Pierre's book and silent movies he suggested.  When you're a one-man band there are so many decisions to make and this is where real headway and innovation can be made in visual storytelling.  It's interesting to see what was done with film nearly 100 years ago, that we think is so novel today.

It's taking me awhile to get in gear with the editing.  The principal photography is over and I have once again over extended myself. The hours changed at the boat inspection place giving me around 40 a week during 5 days.  Good for writing the next script, but only two days for fixing the roof, doorway and bathroom and editing over 40 hours of clips.  Better stop talking and start working on that. :)

July 23, 2016

Amazing.  Nearly two month since I've posted.  We started shooting Clockworld at on the 14th of May and now on the 30th of July will have our last shoot.  Everybody agreed to 6:00 AM and it' has worked out well for the most part.  I'll go through the timeline today and make screenshots

for Facebook.  Haven't posted there regularly either.

May 31, 2016

Last day of May. All ready.  I'm planning for our second shoot on Saturday morning. Need to pick up oil base white paint for the window frames between the houses where we are going to shoot. I'll have to dig out some weeds, move some plants around and weed eat the area as well.  It's a set after all.  Just one more day of boat inspections this week and I'm free. No pay yet, but it's coming.  I really need to check on the Luminess air brush today.  Hope it's here by shoot time. It should have been the first thing I got.  It's very late.

Started yoga in the mornings three days ago and I'm feeling a difference in the arthritis joints all ready.  Looking forward to meeting Dr. Satai next Wednesday.  I've heard she's really good.  After 116 boat inspections yesterday I feel better. They always say 'keep moving'.  Guess that's right.

That's all I can do now as far as trying to get financial support for Across Bank Street.  I'm lucky to have a job to support this and that's the end of it.  I think I got a degree in business because I am really bad at it and I thought that would help.  But, if a person really doesn't like business or selling or advertising no amount of education is going to make it better.  The fact is, I just like making movies, fables, stories that might mean something to somebody.  So, that's what I'll do for the rest of my life.  Every now and then somebody says they like the story or they enjoy watching them.  Some people are like me and just love the process of filmmaking.  For some reason my head never runs out of stories.  Eventually the equipment will fail or the people will fade away or I just won't be able to get out of bed in the morning to work on a project, but until then, I'll just keep putting one foot in front of the other.
